Up Coming Ghost Stories

Sorry I have been so lax in keeping this blog active. It seems that work and life has got ahead of my fun. Don't despair though. Next Sat. (Oct 10th) My husband and I are leaving for Gettysburg PA.
As you know this is one of if not the most haunted places in the United States. It is well known for both it's Civil War history and it's battlefield Ghost. One of the fun things to do in Gettysburg is take a local Ghost Walk. We do plan on doing this along with doing a little ghost hunting on our own. While I am there this time I plan on doing some investigations using dowsing rods.

For more information on the use of dowsing rods visit This page
Using the rods should be fun and even though it won't be "proof" of anything it will be fun to see if I can get them to cross.

You may or may not remember that the cabin we stayed in last fall while there was reputed to be haunted. While we did not have any personal experiences in the cabin, I did get one strange photo when I downloaded them to the computer

Click on this photo to enlarge it and check out the photo frame
I see what  appears to be  the reflection of an older man. I even see the hat he is wearing. There was no one else in the cabin when the photo was taken. Could this be our ghost?
I have to admit I am a bit nervous that we are staying in the same cabin this trip. Since I didn't see the photo until I got home I was unaware of what showed up.
Either way it should prove to be an interesting trip.
I will be back in about two weeks (or less) for updates and to tell you about the trip.

Have lots of luck and fun. If you wonder if your room is active, use the rods in there all alone. Let someone else use them too without telling them where they crossed for you. If they cross in the same place for them, there might be something going on. Keep your cameras aimed in that area during the evening.

Thanks for the advice Autum. We are taking two sets, so I will send my husband outside and we can take turns using them to see what happens. I also plan on taking a voice recorder. I am hoping for some EVP to show up.

Will you be their for halloween? I had two blogs at one time.
I gave up on the other one.
But don't have time to post on this one as I would like.
I need to win the lottery a big one.

Coffee is on.

Hi Patty,

Thanks for comment yesterday! I enjoyed hearing from you.

I'd been meaning to pop over here anyway to say that I hope you have a great trip to Gettysburg (wonderful time of year for that). There was a paranormal convention there last October ... Chip Coffey from Paranormal State was there. I wish I could have gone! Bit of a drive for me, though. I was hoping it would become a yearly event, but I guess not ....

Also, I wanted to ask if you've ever heard of The Booth Brothers?

http://boothbrothers.blogspot.com/

They are known for their paranormal documentaries. I mention them because if you have the SyFy (SciFi) channel in your cable bundle, a couple of their projects are airing this month and they might be of interest to you?

There is a double-header on Oct. 8th starting at 9PM. It's the television premiere of their film, "The Possessed." It's about a possession case that was heavily documented in the late 1800's. And then they will air another, earlier film that I'd heard about but never seen called, "Children Of The Grave." Which is about the investigation of several orphanages and asylums in the midwest reported to have very, very high levels of activity. You can see the trailers for these films on youtube.com if you search for the keywords "Booth Brothers" and/or the titles of the films. There are also links to the trailers at their blog address listed above. Children Of The Grave has several very reputable paranormal experts in it, including John Zaffis ... who is the nephew of Ed & Lorraine Warren. He was an investigator on the Haunting In Connecticut case, as well as many hundreds of other cases.

The Booth Brothers also have a documentary titled, "Spooked" ... which is about the paranormal investigation of the Waverly Hills Sanatorium, where over 60,000 people died of a plague before a cure was found. It has been called "The Scariest Place On Earth." I have yet to catch that one, but I'm keeping an eye out for it. It's not available on netflix as far as I can tell.

Here is a link to the schedule page on SyFy:

The Booth Brothers will also be interviewed on online radio tonight at 8PM here:

http://www.para-x.com/kaps.html

It may be available on demand after the fact. I am not familiar with that channel yet.

Also, there is another paranormal online radio program that I've been following recently that has lots of interesting guests ... I subscribe to their facebook page to get the updates about future programs. I think you might enjoy it ... the hosts are paranormal investigators themselves (the production is a little rough around the edges, but the content is good). I think the are on the west coast, so I never listen to the shows in real time, although you can participate/ask questions in the chat room if you are up that late. The shows are always available in the archives after the fact.

This current show with Rosemary Ellen Guiley that you will find at the link right now was pretty interesting.

Cheers!

Well, I am very excited about your trip (not to mention a bit jealous!) I'll be really curious to hear if you have any activity!

As for the photo...Hmmm...I'm a little skeptical. I get what you're saying about seeing a reflection of a man. HOWEVER the picture is laminated or covered in glass...I can't quite make it out in the photo but I can tell it's got something covering it and giving it a reflective surface. There's also the window right next to it providing a light source.... I believe it's likely just the play of light from the window reflecting off that picture that's causing a trick of the eye to concoct the image.

One way to test this theory, esp if you stay in this same room, is to take several pics of that wall during the day. If you can not recreate the photo, then it may be that, yes, this was a real catch!

Hi Patty,
Just stumbled on your blog while looking for other blogs that deal with the paranormal. I was so pleasantly surprised to see that you went to Gettysburg just as I returned!

I just put up a post about my trip. It was my first time there and I just posted observations. I'm sure your post will be much more eventful than mine so I look forward to reading it. Good luck with the ghost hunting!

I know what you mean about two blogs. The only reason I seperate mine is some people prefer one subjoct (personal stuff) or paranormal. I do less ghost hunting than living life (ha ha) so this one gets less attetntion

Hi Courtney
I agree the photo is probably a case of matrix. The photo frame was actually plastic and the window had curtains with lace on them in the print of flowers. I am not sure how flowers formed a face, but light and digital camera's play strange tricks on photo. Although we did not "see" anything the owners of the campground told me that they have one guest that comes every year insisting on that cabin. She claims she has seen a full body apparition of a man standing at the food of her bed. She has heard horse walking past (no horses were on the road in either direction). She has heard music (which we did also hear...a flute). I wish there was someway for me to leave this person a note in the cabin to contact me, but that information is confidential so I doubt my path will cross there's. I do plan on taking lots of photos, so we will see what happens.

Hi Jen
Welcome. I am so happy you came by. Come again often. I am heading to your blog to read about your trip! Gettysburg is probably my favorite place to go. I can't explain it but I feel like I am home. (Maybe a past life time thing). I will be back here to post about my adventures soon

I would be nervous to stay in a haunted cabin, but as long as hubby was around, I would do it.
I am still not brave enough for evp..I am too afraid that I WILL hear something!
Have fun and take loads of photos.

I am braver than the hubby ha ha. I have to admist that in the back of my head I do have these little voices that tell me What if it is something evil, but I really feel like that is more of a TV movie type thing and is rare to have happen to the average person.
I have tried EVP's a few times and I think I can make out a word or two but can never been sure. It should be fun to try.

I've never tried using dowsing rods before, it would be interesting to try them at my very local cemetery and see what happens.

I hope you have an absolutely fantastic trip. I'm heading back down to Baltimore this weekend with Amanda and her friend Darci for the "funeral that Poe never had" and a book-signing by Gris Grimley, her favorite illustrator. We're hoping to maybe hit Gettysburg for a day on our way home but unfortunately we'll only have the one day to be there if we do.

Neither of the girls have been there so I'm hoping for good weather and the chance to see my favorite battlefield if even for just one day. Who knows? We may just be there at the same time!

I took my girls to Gettysburg a few years ago and my middle daughter was so hoping we'd see a ghost. We took tons of pictures at Devil's Den but when we had them developed there was nothing there! I have a feeling if there were any ghosts there that day we scared them off as I spent way too much time calling (screaming) for my daughter who had wandered away for far too long and had me scared to death!
Good luck with your trip!

Interesting photo Patty. Have a good trip and find lots of ghosts. Isn't it odd how one is interested in them and scared of them all at once!
